Description
EXPANDED METAL (Metal Deployed / Deplouaje)
Expanded Metal is an incredibly robust, single-piece, and highly versatile material widely utilized in structural engineering, industrial fabrication, and modern architecture. It is manufactured by slit-shearing and stretching a solid metal sheet simultaneously, creating a uniform mesh pattern without any welds or joints. This process ensures unmatched structural integrity, delivering an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and superior rigidity.
Key Features & Advantages
Solid & Unravel-Proof Structure: Because it is formed from a single piece of steel without joints, braids, or welds, it does not unravel and maintains its structural stiffness even when cut into custom shapes.
Optimal Open Area Capacity: Allows the smooth and free passage of air, light, sound, and fluids, making it ideal for ventilation covers, sunscreens, and media filtration.
Natural Anti-Slip Properties: The inherent three-dimensional angular orientation of its strands provides excellent traction, highly suitable for walkways and treads.
Common Applications
Industrial flooring, elevated catwalks, loading ramps, and stair treads (especially for outdoor facilities)
Architectural building facades, secondary skins, false ceilings, and interior partitions
High-security fencing, balustrade infills, and heavy machinery safety guards
Filtration systems, industrial sorting baskets, and modern urban furniture pieces
Technical Specifications & Coding
In accordance with DIN 791 standards, the exact geometry and type of each Expanded Metal profile are defined by the following parameters (measured in millimeters – mm):
Prefix: P for Diamond mesh / H for Hexagonal mesh.
A: Long diagonal of the diamond or width of the hexagon.
B: Short diagonal of the diamond or height of the hexagon.
π: Material thickness.
λ: Strand width.
Standard size code sequence: Prefix (P or H) A, B, π, λ.
Available Sheet Dimensions
Supplied in standardized sheet sizes corresponding to typical metal plate dimensions (please note that width is always listed first in descriptions):
1.00 m x 2.00 m
1.25 m x 2.50 m
1.50 m x 3.00 m (with a length tolerance of +/-2%)
Note: Alternative dimensions and custom sizes can be manufactured upon request.
